Motorola was founded in 1928 by two brothers and quickly became a very successful family business originally known as the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation. The Galvin Corporation would later brand itself as the Motorola corporation in 1947 while manufacturing car equipment and handie talkies. Motorola has always been an innovator in the electronics industry which is why it was no surprise that as cell phones were becoming more and more popular in the 1990s Motorola became one of the well recognized brands known for manufacturing quality cell phones and cell phone accessories. Motorola has earned respect for leading the way into the cell phone market and are responsible for the first handset to combine a Linux operating system and Java technology with full PDA functionality as well as the first headset to combine a digital phone, two-way radio, alphanumeric pager, Internet microbrowser, e-mail, fax and two-way messaging. Many say Motorola will lead the way as the cell phone industry continues to evolve as cell phones continue to prove to be a big part of our lives.
